Kuraplan Shield

Shield replaces student names and personal details with placeholders before a request reaches the AI, then puts them back in the reply. Try it below. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

Write a report comment for Aroha Ngata, Year 4. She reads confidently, struggles with fractions and helps Ben when he's stuck. Her mum is on aroha.mum@gmail.com or 021 555 0192.

The AI receives

Write a report comment for Student_1 Student_1_Surname, Year 4. She reads confidently, struggles with fractions and helps Student_2 when he's stuck. Her mum is on [email_1] or [phone_1].

Kept on Kuraplan's servers and swapped back into the reply:

  • Student_1 → Aroha
  • Student_1_Surname → Ngata
  • Student_2 → Ben
  • [email_1] → aroha.mum@gmail.com
  • [phone_1] → 021 555 0192

How it works

  1. 1

    Finds personal details

Student names, including te reo Māori names, plus email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth and student IDs.

  2. 2

    Swaps them for placeholders

The AI model only ever sees Student_1, [email_1] and so on. The real details stay on Kuraplan's servers.

  3. 3

Puts them back in the reply

When the answer comes back, the placeholders are replaced with the real names, so the teacher sees a normal result.

For schools: a school admin can turn Shield on for every teacher at the school, and teachers can't switch it off.

Good to know: Shield catches most names and contact details, but no filter is perfect. Only include the student information a task needs.
